Fun in the sun should be what it is all about in the summer and in London, there is so much choice of things to do outside that you needn’t ever venture indoors. Unlike many cities in the UK, London has really good open spaces to explore and enjoy. One of the best things about the capital is the amount of green space that has been preserved despite the urban sprawl. If you are looking for fun things to do outside with the kids this summer, then take a trip to the capital. Or, if you live in London already, then get out and about a bit more to do some activities that you can enjoy with the kids.
Wimbledon Tour
There's nothing that says summer has arrived more than the sound of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on the airwaves. Although taking children to the headquarters of lawn tennis during the championships is pricey, there is another way to soak up the atmosphere which is a bit less expensive. The Lawn Tennis Association provides guided tours around the playing areas at Wimbledon throughout the summer. The guides take you on a walk around all of the famous sites, you also get access to the museum as part of the package.

Outdoor Swimming
On very hot days you might want to get the kids to exercise, but worry about too much exposure to heat. How about taking them to an outdoor pool instead of a park, so that they can cool off, have some fun and get exercised at the same time? London Fields Lido is a heated outdoor swimming pool that is open through the summer. Located in Hackney, it is an Olympic sized 50 meter pool. Alternatively, try Brockwell Lido in South London, which reopened in 1994 and has been going strong ever since.

Deer Spotting
Can you really see these shy animals in the capital? Well, yes it is possible. Head to Richmond Park on the A3 or try Bushy Park on the A308, both are in Southwest London and have herds of deer which roam around. The best time to see them is just after dawn or at dusk. If you drive at this time, then remember you may hit rush hour, so make sure your car is prepared with enough oil and water so that you don't overheat. You can get this done by a dealership like Point S who will be able to check your wheel balancing too whilst you're there. Kids love the idea of being able to see stunning creatures like deer, in the wild.

Capital Geocaching
Geocaching teaches navigation skills and gives a purpose to a walk or a hike that makes it altogether more enjoyable for children. If you thought that geocaching was only an activity for kids who live in the countryside, then think again. Many mums take their kids for some geocaching in the city. There are plenty of organizations where you can find out more about the activity and where you can do it in London, such as the Geocaching Association of Great Britain.
