Home DIY Tips - On A Budget!

I'm sure if you're not an avid watcher of home makeover shows you at least would of watched at least one in your lifetime and maybe, just maybe wish you could have a home transformation just like the occupants of the households shown on the popular tv shows such as 60 minute makeover and DIY SOS.

However, applying for such a program and crossing every finger hoping you'll get picked to be a participant may not be the quick and easy way to get the home makeover you've wanted or would like. So in this post, I am going to inform you on how you can transform your home yourself, or maybe with some family and friend help and all within a suitable budget!

Decoration:
There are some things that can't be compromised on price with the good old trusted saying of ''you get what you pay for'' creeping into my mind, cutting corners, or rather cost with paint and wallpaper may look nice for a couple of weeks, at a push a few months, but would you want to start all over again? Check online and shop around for different offers and don't necessarily visit DIY stores as you'll find places like Wilkinson, The Range and even supermarkets sell selected paints and wallpapers at a fraction of the cost of DIY stores.

Carpet/Flooring:
Again, you really don't want to shop cheap for flooring of any style, whether you're after carpet, lino or laminate flooring, spending that little bit extra will ensure future cost are limited. Also try to knock out the middle man - aka the carpet/floor layer, ask around for family and friends help, or even search on local Facebook sites to see if anyone can lay a carpet working on your budget!

Furniture:
New is so not the new 'new', out with the new and in with the old is so this century's furniture fashion trend! I myself purchased an ancient but beautiful writing bureau from a local emporium from my Christmas money recently for a steal of just £40! Hunt around for good quality furniture at furniture outlets, emporiums, auctions, charity shops and second hand sites including Facebook!

Accessories:
You'll be amazed at what accessories can do to a room, any room! Brighten up a plain and dull looking room by adding a splash of colour with a few accessories! Canvases are a fab way to accessories a room, so are cushions and word art. Take a look around bargain stores such as Home Bargains, The Range and Wilkinson, you'd be surprised at what you can pick up for just a few pounds!

Without The Small Budget:
Maybe you're looking to splash out big on your home, maybe it's something you've never done before and you're tired of looking at the same surroundings in a place which you should love - home. Before making any big decisions regarding the finances the makeover is going to cost, check out the TSB loan  calculator and really do think about how much you're wanting to spend.

One Last Tip:
A little bit of Dettol never done anyone any harm, charity shops are not for poor people, nor are second hand items. You'll be surprised at the quality of items you can find that aren't brand new!

Until next time,
