I am taking part in Hidden Hearing's Meaningful Melodies Competition which is excellent competition seeing the winner take home £100 worth of vouchers from a small selection of retailers from there choice.
I'd just like to say thank you to Hidden Hearing for running such a fabulous competition, I'm not a massive music fan, I listen to music on a daily basis but don't go out of my way to purchase albums or concert tickets for my favourite artist.

Within this post, I am containing five song's which have a meaning to me, and I will be telling you all why these songs mean so much to me!

Ben.E King - Stand By Me.
Considering I'm only 24 years old, some will consider this semi emotional song a strange one to add onto my top five song's, however the song means an awful lot to me. My Grandad Joyce passed away when I was eight year's old, three day's after my eighth birthday to be precise and being young, it was decided us younger children didn't know my Grandad was given just a few weeks left to live. It was also decided my Grandad had detiorated so much, us younger children would be stopped from visiting the hospital that my Grandad spent his last year alive in, so I didn't see my Grandad for a very long time, and then all of a sudden he was dead.
I have fond memories of my Grandad, including coconut mushroom sweets and Stand By Me. I remember getting into my Grandad's car after a sleepover at his and my Nan's house, and he would put his tape on and sing this song to me on many occasions, so this one's mine and my Grandad's song, still 16 years after you left us, I'll stand by you.
Greece - We Go Together.
Me and Spud adore this song, although we get in a right tongue tie trying to remember the lyrics in the right moment, we do a pretty good job and if I say so myself we've got the dance routine perfected down to every last detail! I've loved Greece for as long as I can remember, watching it with my Mum when I was a little girl for the first time and it was always that song that made me love the film the most.
Of course my love for the film carried on and Spud has watched it over 50 times with me, as soon as the end part comes on which plays this song, we make sure the front room floor is clear and break out in song and dance! It set's us off in fits of giggles every time and on the bad days, Spud will come up to me and sing Chang Chang Changitty Chang Shoobop, Dip da Dip da Dip Doowop da Doobee doo, Boogedy boogedy boogedy boogedy shooby doowop shebop!
Idina Menzel - Let It Go - Frozen Soundtrack.
Although Spud remembers many lyrics from a number of songs, he's never remembered the full lyrics for any one song until the hit Disney film Frozen was released at cinema's and then onto DVD. I'll always remember this song as the first song Spud knew word for word and that moment will sure make me smile forever and always!
Along with this song, Spud also knows the words for Love Is An Open Door (another song from the Frozen film). We both love to sing the song's together and take our roles respectively as Hans and Elsa! Although a massive Frozen fan there is one song Spud is not keen on and that's Do You Want To Be A Snowman, although he does sometimes sing along with his mummy!
Blazin Squad - That's Where The Story Ends.
I know I'm only 24 but after putting my own opinion out there and speaking to elder people including my Nan and parents, I do honestly believe your teenage years are some of the best. You're old enough to be left at home alone, and even to go town for a few hours with your friends. Being a teenager is also one of the hardest years of your life as you feel like its extreme competition and pressure to have the latest phone, trainers and hair style. This song really went through me as a teenager, I still love it to this day.
Although the ten man band refer to a male in the song, the lyrics really touch home, and make you open up to the REAL world around you! Everything seems so perfect on the outside but open up them small eyes a little bit more and you'll see the real issues in the world, violence, drugs and racism to name a few.
Sean Paul - Never Gonna Be The Same.
Around 6-7 months before me and Spud's dad split up, I met a wonderful man who introduced himself to me as Andy, his real name was Peter and he was amazing. At first he was just a friend who was an amazing one at that, he would listen to yet another moan about Spud's dad, run errands for me and come give me a cuddle no matter what time of the day.
Andy one day told me how he felt about me and I knew I felt the same, we shared our first kiss and took small steps. I know it was wrong but after the years of abuse from Spud's father, I was weak and afraid to leave him. I planned my 18th birthday party and tried to get on as best as I could under the situation. Andy went back home to visit family but was due home a week before my 18th birthday bash, not hearing from him and getting a constant voicemail message when calling his phone I was heartbroken to hear the news that Andy aka Peter had died in a terrible car accident back home in Africa.

I requested the DJ play this song in Andy's memory at my birthday party, just two days before his funeral, I appreciated the fact that a few of his cousins attended my party, and we all cried and shared a moment together. That night, I had a massive argument with the DJ who insulted me live on the microphone, a friend of Spud's fathers whilst Spud's father stood beside him and let him talk to me disrespectfully. I grabbed the microphone, told him our relationship was over and had a awesome party without him or his stupid friend!
I'll never forget Andy, all the memories I share within that short space of time, and hope he is at peace wherever he is. I thank him for changing my life, without him I wouldn't of left Spud's father, and would still most probably be with him now, year's on, at my worse unhappiest state ever!

There we have it, that's my five Meaningful Melodies as part of the Hidden Hearing competition! Could you tell me within a few minutes what your five Meaningful Melodies would be? I must admit it took me the best part of an hour, and then I had to narrow it down to the finals, I felt like a BGT judge!
Wish me luck xx
