Daydreaming Of Holidays, Where Would You Go?

It's the morning of August 25th, which is bank holiday Monday here in the UK, I'm at my mum's home in Cornwall, approximately four hours away from home in Reading, having our annual summer holiday, only today is the last day. We always make a day of the day we go home, so we leave as late as possible so we've still had some fun on our last day, but we can't do that today, not on this bank holiday because it's raining! Actually raining is a understatement, it's like the sea has turned upside down and the gravity can't hold it in, it's pouring down!

Mum's in the kitchen making everyone breakfast, whilst I'm sat here, writing this post, staring out of the window and day dreaming all in one. I wouldn't say I'm a great multi-tasker but when it comes to day dreams I seem to be excellent at those! I'm dreaming in my head of me and Spud packing our suitcases ready to leave my mum's, only instead of going home, driving straight to the airport!

The baguette I'm eating whilst typing this post, holiday breakfast is always the best!
Snapping in and out of my day dream, mum's asking us if we'd like any sauce on our bacon and sausage baguettes, all I can think of is the cocktails by the pool that I've had in my day dream. I call back to mum with ketchup and do a quick search on flights to Lanzarote… I’m thinking of a relaxing break in this Spanish island because when I was a teenager, and we were all looking through holiday brochures from the travel agents, Lanzarote stood out due to the fact of it being one of the canary islands! I had a canary bird when I was a young child called Sam who sadly died, and when I see the canary islands, canary stood right out for me!

I snap out of the thought as I know it's not possible, I don't drive and I don't think my sister will want to go any further then the four hour drive, plus I don't actually have any summer or even abroad suitable clothes packed for me and Spud. I knew we was coming to see my mum in Cornwall and packed English weather suitable clothes, not sunny Lanzarote ones!

I'm staring out of the window again and watching the rain drops slide down the glass, I watch as they all collide together and how the rain drops splash into the puddles on the floor. I imagine no rain in Lanzarote, instead just lot's of wonderful sun, I plan in my head of stocking up on sun cream for Spud and myself, a whole new wardrobe for mummy and some extra pairs of shorts for Spud.

Spud running into the sea in Looe - Cornwall, this past week.
Relaxing by the pool reading a book and sipping on a cocktail, Spud next to me on another lounger playing his DS and sipping on a children's cocktail (apple juice, orange juice and mango juice mixed together, poured over ice). I imagine us browsing the local shops, tasting the local food and sunbathing on the beach. I imagine us splashing in the sea, and licking mango flavour ice creams on our lips, I need to stop.

We don't even have passports!!!

I'll get to Lanzarote one day, I'll keep telling myself, and believing it, and I know, we will one day, be licking mango flavoured ice cream from our lips by the hotel pool, whilst sipping cocktails and dipping our feet, it will happen, it really will!

Where do you day dream of jetting off too? Somewhere closer to home? Or somewhere far, far away?

Jada x
